How toxic is your home?

Now that you’ve decided to take your Health back, it’s time to say goodbye to the Junk.

You are probably not aware of this yet, but the average home today contains approximatly 62 toxic chemicals.  According to a research by the nonprofit Environmental Working Group (EWG), the average women use an average of 168 chemicals on their bodies each day.  I find this very disturbing and I still can’t understand why there is not more regulation around the chemicals that are being used in the products being sold to us everyday.

Here’s some facts

→ More than 72,000 synthetic chemicals have been produced since WW II.

→ Less than 2% of synthetic chemicals have been tested for toxicity, mutagenic, carcinogenic, or birth defects.

→ The majority of chemicals have never been tested for long-term effects.

Toothpaste can contain a number of harmful ingredients, such as: fluoride, triclosan, carrageenan, aspartame, parabens, propylen glycol a mineral oil, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium laureth sulfate, ammonia, benzyl alcohol/sodium benzoate, colors, ethanol, flavors, plastic (PVP), saccharin.  In fact, as of April 1997, toothpaste is required to carry poison control information on the label as even a small amount can harm or kill a small child.

Green Washing

This is one of the practice that I find the most troubling.  It’s when a company is trying to make you think their products is good when they are not. It’s a dirty business practice in which the company use misleading claims about a green practice so you select them thinking you are making a better choice.  It’s only there to fool you and make you think the company is a good one, when it’s fact, it’s not.
